What is ARPDAU and why is it important?

ARPDAU (Average Revenue Per Daily Active User) measures how much each active user generates per day. It's the single most important monetization metric because it captures all revenue streams — IAP, ads, and offerwall — in one number. A healthy ARPDAU means your monetization layers are working; a declining ARPDAU signals that users are engaging less or your placements need optimization.

How do you calculate ARPDAU?

ARPDAU = Total Revenue in a period ÷ Daily Active Users in that same period. For example, if your app earned $1,500 over 7 days and averaged 30,000 DAU, your ARPDAU is $1,500 × 7 ÷ 30,000 = $0.35. Include all revenue sources: IAP, ad revenue, offerwall earnings, and subscriptions. Calculate it daily, weekly, and monthly to spot trends.

What is a good ARPDAU for mobile apps?

It depends on genre and geo mix. Rough benchmarks for 2026: hyper-casual $0.02-0.05, casual $0.05-0.15, mid-core $0.10-0.30, hardcore $0.15-0.50. Apps with heavy Tier-1 traffic (US, UK, Germany, Japan) should land at the top of their bracket. If your ARPDAU falls below your genre's floor, you likely have a monetization gap — usually a missing rewarded layer.

How can I increase my ARPDAU?

Three proven strategies: (1) Add an offerwall to monetize the 95% of users who never buy IAP — this alone can add $0.01-0.05 ARPDAU. (2) Optimize ad placement frequency — too few ads leave money on the table, too many hurt retention. (3) Improve geo targeting: users in Tier-1 countries generate 5-10x more ad and offer revenue than Tier-3. Use server-side reward validation to ensure reported ARPDAU reflects real, validated revenue.

Should I track ARPDAU separately by country?

Absolutely. ARPDAU by country (or geo tier) reveals where your revenue actually comes from. Many apps discover that 70% of revenue comes from 20% of countries. This insight lets you prioritize user acquisition spend in high-value geos and choose offerwall demand sources that have strong inventory in those regions.
